Hello

March 10, 2026

My name is Mirg. You can find me on Pleroma and pretty much nowhere else. I made this blog in an effort to counteract or at least nullify the figurative(?) brain damage I'm clearly experiencing.

You see, I have noticed that my ability to communicate my thoughts clearly and concisely has dwindled significantly, and only continues to do so. I believe this is in part because I let my writing skill completely rot and wither away. So it seemed like a sound conclusion that one way to work on this issue is to practice putting my thoughts down on “paper” in a way that wouldn't be off-putting or displeasing for a stranger to read.

I intend to use this blog to write about whatever. These days more things bother me than excite me, and I'm inclined to gravitate towards upsetting topics, but I will try to write about my interests as well.

Currently those include, but are not limited to:

  1. Tech Shit
  2. Sorcery: Contested Realm
  3. The sky, when it's pretty

Anyway, my hope is that with somewhat consistent posting here, I will manage to improve both my writing skill, as well as my ability to clearly communicate ideas to another human being. I do wish I could simply beam ideas into people's heads telepathically, but I have unfortunately not been granted this power.

To close off, I wanted to throw out some random tidbits about me, just because.

  • I have no formal education in anything tech related. My field is medicine, which I despise. I would like to change this. I know, I've picked a great time to try and break into tech.
  • I have a home server hosting some stuff making my life easier that I access through WireGuard. Maybe I'll write about my stack at some point. I'd have to go into why I think some people make “hating Docker” a core part of their personality, though.
  • Additionally: I have a remote server for sea-sailing activities/media hosting; an automated cloud backup situationship; and of course the VPS hosting this blog & my Pleroma instance
  • I dabble (very basically) in programming but keep falling off due to unfortunate lack of discipline. Not counting learning assignments, the only real “finished” piece of “code” I've written is a bash script which, among other things, gracefully backs up things that matter to me.

  • I'm turning 30 soon, and I'm deeply unhappy about it
  • I really enjoy Sorcery (the TCG mentioned earlier). The art is phenomenal, which is my main motivation, but the gameplay is very fun, as well! It's got a very “kitchen table” philosophy which allows it to have some very weird cards. Lots of wacky interactions to be found!
  • It also has a free official Tabletop Simulator mod, which is neat. Can't say the same for certain other money-grubbing TCGs.

  • I'm in the middle of like fifty different books right now. Shit. Actively reading just these four:
    • The Devils by Joe Abercrombie
    • The Memory Police by Yōko Ogawa
    • Monk and Robot by Becky chambers
    • Tao Te Ching by Laozi
  • I'm doing The Devils via audiobook, but I'm unsure that's the best way, and may switch to text instead.
  • The Tao is very far over my head, but I'm trying.

That's all, for now. I'm sure if you've slogged your way through this, you probably understand now what I meant when I said I have trouble communicating clearly and concisely. Like I said: I'm working on it.

Bye for now.
